3 wealth lessons everyone can learn from this blockbuster

There are lots of lessons in Black Panther and these are the three money/wealth lesson we learnt from the people of Wakanda.

So, while we continue to enjoy the euphoria of Black Panther's success, we can also take a look at some lessons the people of Wakanda have to offer the rest of the world.

One of such lessons is predicated on money managementand distribution of wealth.

King Tchaka's declaration marks the first pointer and a resounding warning to all parents on how to prepare their children for their wealth when he said. ''A man who has not prepared his children for his death has failed as a father."

Here are three money/wealth lessons we learnt from Black Panther:

1. Don't wait until death to teach and model wealth principles

Failure to teach your heirs some wealth principles could lead to post-humous crisis that may end up exposing your properties to mismanagement and misuse.

King T'Chaka and QueenRamonda recognised how far such a crisis could go in destroying their legacies, that is why they taught and exposed their children,  Prince T'Challa and Princess Shuri to the wealth, rituals and expectations in Wakanda.

T'Challa and Shuri also understand their leadership roles as managers and custodians of Wakanda's wealth and resources. Their leadership skills and ability to make decisions to stand for their people was part of their upbringing and this is evident in their father's declaration that ''A man who has not prepared his children for his death has failed as a father."

So, as a parent, it is important you teach your children about the responsibilities, sacrifices and investments you made to support the family and build a legacy.

2. State wealth vision and wealth distribution to rightful beneficiaries

The Wakanda royal family acknowledged that the fictional metal, Vibranium, which is the source of wealth for Wakanda belonged to the people and not theirs.

As the royal authorities of  Wakanda Kingdom, King T'Chaka and his wife, Queen Ramonda could have been greedy to lay claims on the fictional natural resource, and declare it their family property.  Instead, the royal family made the heir to the throne realise that the people of Wakanda are the rightful owners of the fictional metal that is responsible for the technological advancement in Wakanda.

This, however, is like stating who owns or who gets what in clear terms to enable courts to distribute your wealth and assets according to your will.

3. Costly omission can surface after death

King Tchaka's failure to mention a crucial detail to his son caused a civil war that almost erased his legacies.

The king had killed his brother, Prince N'jobu and left Njobu's son, Killmonger in exile. In a bid to avenge his father's death, Killmonger helped enemies in stealing vibranium and later returned to Wakanda to lay claim to the throne.

This also applies to telling everything the beneficiaries of your wealth need to know about you and your properties without hiding anything from them. Keeping details away from your heirs could expose them and your properties to crisis long after you have gone.
