This man tattooed a scar onto his chest to comfort his son

(If you're dealing with heart disease, you aren't alone, either. Here are 10 facts to help you fight the battle.) The father, who bears a number of tattoos on his body, decided to get one more to match the scar across Bobby's chest as a result of his surgery.

Richard and his wife, Natasha, had been told that Bobby would be born with the defect while Natasha was 22-weeks pregnant, according to The Mirror. (Click here to see the photos of the tattoo.) Their options were to either allow the doctors to administer surgery, or to give Bobby supportive care and allow him to live as long as he could.

The two were determined to do whatever they could to give Bobby the best chance at survival, and opted for surgery. When he was three months old, he was given bi-directional cavopulmonary shunt surgery to help support his heart. He will need a second surgery in a few years.

Richard and Natasha aren't ending their fight against congenital heart defects there, though. They want to continue to raise awareness for the condition, and to support their son however they can. Richard's tattoo is a touching symbol of their dedication.
