A rise in demand for labiaplasties may explain this unexpected fad.

File this one under "News You Don't Read Every Day:" Camel toes are apparently on the rise. We've explained in the past how lingerie can help add an extra something to any relationship, we've revealed what your own underwear decisions say about you, and we've shared the best underwear you can buy.

However, this new trend making its way to the UK (via Asia) may add an entirely new twist to your conventional expectations of skivvies.

According to The Daily Mail, underwear that creates the appearance of a pronounced camel toe is gaining popularity. They cite a rise in labiaplasty surgery as a possible connection, explaining that the camel toe underwear is a cheap alternative to expensive designer procedures for women who may feel self-conscious about the appearance of their vagina.

While the surgical route can cost hundreds or thousands of dollars, this pair of underwear can be acquired for a fraction of the cost.

In Asia, they're apparently referred to as "Party Pants." But in the West, they've been mostly met with a deafening "WTF?"

However, there may be an angle to this story that everyone has completely missed.

This user raises a good point, as product listings on Amazon do specifically bill underwear of this kind as "Crossdresser, Transgender Camel Toe Front Gaff Panty."

Is it possible that something is getting lost in translation? The Daily Mail had a local model come in to try on the underwear for herself and her reaction may say it all.

"I don't think they're for me personally," she said, "but each to their own."
