Ouch. A Chinese man was admitted to the hospital on June 20 after experiencing the pain that came along with sticking 15 sewing needles into his penis.

The HauShuang Morning Post in China reported that the 35-year-old sought treatment at the General Hospital of Shenyang Military Region in Shenyang of Liaoning Province after nearly a year of inserting the sharp objects inside of him.

The bachelor, who put the needles in his manhood pinhead up, claimed to experience no discomfort until recently, when he started feeling intense pain and seeing blood while urinating.

Doctors performed an x-ray and found that the needles were stuck at the membranous urethra, the narrowest part of the urethra. They then spent 90 minutes carefully removing the needles, which ranged from about two to four inches in length. Luckily for the anonymous patient, the doctors say they expect no long lasting effects from this.

“I am sweating and my hands are trembling when it's over. This is not an easy one,” said the urologist Dr. Cao Zhiqiang. “There are scholars explaining this scenario as one of the peculiar sex similar to Sadomasochism and foot fetishes. Patients are looking for excitement through unusual ways.”

This isn't the first time the doctor has seen a case like this. He told the newspaper that his department has also come across men who have stuck pen refills and thermometers up their penis.

The doctor then explained that there are now “special toys” for patients who derive pleasure in this way. “These specially made tools are not only more hygienic, they are also safer to insert – and most importantly can be removed,” Dr. Cao said.
