Magic mushrooms are the "safest" recreational drug, according to the 2017 Global Drug Survey.

The GDS used data from just under 120,000 people who reported their drug use and whether they sought medical treatment.

Of the 12,000 who took 'shrooms, only 0.2 percent reported seeking medical treatment.

That’s the lowest figure of all drugs measured, including alcohol, which had the third-highest medical treatment rate with 1.3 percent, and cannabis, which was second-lowest with 0.6 percent.

The two highest figures were for methamphetamine and synthetic cannabis, with 4.8 percent and 3.2 percent, respectively.

LSD, another hallucinogen, had the third-lowest rate with 1.0 percent.

Of course, there are still risks that come with taking magic mushrooms.

“Combined use with alcohol and use within risky or unfamiliar settings increase the risks of harm—most commonly accidental injury, panic and short-lived confusion, disorientation, and fears of losing one’s mind,"Adam Winstock, an addiction psychiatrist and founder of the GDS, told the Guardian.

If you’re going to use ‘shrooms, you should research the appropriate dosage for your experience level, make sure you’re in a safe and comfortable environment, a good mental state ('shrooms and depression are a bad combination), and perhaps in the company of a sober friend who can watch over you, just in case.
