People are already saying The Rock's new 'Jumanji' movie looks awesome

Cast of upcoming movie, Jumanji.

Hollywood is releasing a slew of new movies that are either remakes or sequels to some of our favorite old films and franchises: Baywatch, Power Rangers, the list goes on and on. Look no further than the current box office buster Beauty and the Beast for proof as to why film execs are so eager to return to these dependable, creative wells.

Another upcoming example is December's Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, starring Jack Black, Kevin Hart, and The Rock. Information about the film is still scant, but with the movie set to hit screens this year, it's only a matter of time before more details begin to trickle out.

The Hollywood Reporter explains that we're closer than ever to getting an official trailer or first look at the film.

According to THR, The Rock and his fellow castmates attended a CinemaCon panel last night to talk about the film and offer a glimpse at some footage to the lucky attendees. Here is what they reportedly viewed:

"The footage begins with four high schoolers in detention. Their teacher orders them to clean out the basement of the school, and they find an old video game console, which features the game Jumanji. You pick a character, and as the teens learn you are that person in the game ... which transports you to a jungle."

From there, The Rock & Co. take over on-screen. Essentially, The Rock is playing a teenage boy who has chosen to play the game as The Rock. Jack Black is playing a teenage girl who has chosen to play as his character.

It's somewhat difficult to explain, and a little meta, but it nevertheless has us excited for what's in store come December.
