Organisers unveil Akin Lewis, Doris Simeon, others as ambassadors

Akin Lewis, Doris Simeon, Norbert Young and Owen Gee have been unveiled as some of the ambassadors of the Theatremania Africa Festival.

In a recent statement, the thespians were named ambassadors of the forthcoming arts festival scheduled for March, 2017 in Nigeria by the International Central Working Committee (ICWC).

Other ambassadors include South African female thespians, Thandekile Grace Maseko and Sibongile Maria Phakathi; Ghanaian act, Ebo Whyte and Malawi's Zani Michelle Chiumia a.k.a Zani Challe.

Speaking on the move, the Creative & Content Director of TAF, Eppie Maunza said: " The Ambassadors went through scrutiny and screening of a four man panel set up for the purpose of ensuring that TAF 2016/17 has quality and worthwhile representation and importantly capable theatre stakeholders to project the theme for the forthcoming event in Nigeria dubbed Peace in Africa."

Akin Lewis, one of the ambassadors was elated about the honour saying he and other ambassadors of the arts festival are committed to promoting African theatre.

In the words, " We are first and foremost honoured to be appointed as Ambassadors of this great festival. Let me say on behalf of the other Ambassadors that we are committed to ensuring the promotion of African theatre, music, dance, folktales and culture using this platform to positively spread the African heritage, peace and unity."

The CEO & Co-Founder of TAF, Alayande Stephen said, " TAF is a reward system meant to appreciate African Acts(Thespians) and other stakeholders in the Theatre Arts/entertainment Industry and a platform to show case the best of African Theatre/music/chanting/oral poetry/dance/creative performances on a global stage. One of the Unique Selling Propositions is that we will bringing multiple award winning actors/actresses within and outside the African continent to act and perform live on stage. The festival is expected to be full of glamour, grandeur, color, excellence and excitement."

Theatremania Africa Festival (TAF) is an all-encompassing All Africa Theatre Production/Creative Industry Awards and Festival, evolving from the African root aimed at re-writing the African story to the world in a positive way.
