In a statement, Nusa Penida police chief Gede Arianta said the youngster apparently couldn't swim and lost his balance when the wave hit, causing him to fall into the ocean.
The Singapore embassy in Jakarta extended condolences to Aslam's family and provided consular assistance in returning his body to Singapore.
