A village in Yorkshire has transformed a disused phone booth into a tiny museum.

Located in Warley, near Halifax, the museum can accommodate only one person at a time. In spite of the lack of space, the museum has etched glass, old photos and some personal items that tell the history of the village on display.

The Warley Museum was unveiled last week by Richard Macfarlane of the Calderdale Museum Service and Mayor Howard Blagbrough.

The phone booth was transformed by members of Warley Community Association (WCA) who researched the uses of phone boxes and decided on a museum.

The planning was done by Mrs Bailey, her husband, Doug, and artists Paul and Chris Czainski.

The group plans to change the theme of the exhibition every three months. Currently, the theme is local history. The WCA has submitted an application to include the museum in the Guinness Book of World Records.

The WCA chairwoman, Eliana Bailey said: "We've had a phenomenal response. People thought it was amazing, when they saw inside they could not believe it. It's so inspiring when people come to have a look."

There are many more unused phone booths in the town and more than 40 of such units could be removed due to a reduction in usage.
