After a long leadership crisis, the Uga community of Aguata LGA, Anambra State has finally celebrated the new yam festival with the new king.
According to tradition, the new king, HRH Igwe Chidi Ezenwugo started the New Yam Festival ceremony at his palace. The entire community then followed with fanfare at the square. Members of the four quarters of Uga town, Anaras, Umuoru, Oka and Umueze converged in their different colourful traditional attires.
The arrival of the king and his entourage was heralded with canon shots and excited shouts from the members of the community.

The Igwe acknowledged the cheers of acceptance and greetings from members of the four quarters of Uga. The king sat flanked by his queen and the Isi Obi chiefs in charges of the four quarters.
During the breaking of the kolanut, the Igwe thanked God for peace and love in the town of Uga. He also assured the crowd that he would carry each and every one of them along during his tenure.
He also promised to ensure that there is complete peace while mentioning his complete support for the Anambra State government.
There was interesting cultural dance display put together by members of the Uga Student Union members who exhibited their mastery of traditional dance.
