Victor Ehikhamenor, Nigeria's representative at Venice Biennale art exhibition spotted the controversial artist's pieces at the art exhibition looking like a replica of one of Nigeria's "Ori Oloku" sculpture belonging to the Yorubas, without giving credit to the Nigerian artist who sculpted it neither did he reference Nigeria and called him out!

Ehikhamenor who was alarmed by what he saw (as a Nigerian art piece) took to his Instagram page to break the news which gathered a lot of reactions and was subsequently reposted by Nigerian artist Laolu Senbanjo.

Pulse Nigeria reached out to artists for reactions on the alleged plagiarism and Laolu Senbanjo a renowned US based Nigerian artist reacted sounding his disappointment at the act and didn't fail to express this calling out Hirst in the interview. (Read the full interview here)

The artist who's been in the news lately for creating sculptures bearing striking similarities to original notable artworks however reacted to the plagiarism allegations via his spokesperson; "The Treasures are a collection of works influenced by a wide range of cultures and stories from across the globe and throughout history – indeed many of the works celebrate original and important artworks from the past.

A reference to the Ife heads is in the text accompanying the work and in the guide to the exhibition and is integral to the concept of the work.” the spokesperson for Mr Hirst said.
