On August 8, 2016, City FM officially launched the City Media Academy where aspiring OAP's will be trained.
These specializations include presenting, voice training, production, social media optimization, marketing and many more.
The maiden edition, with more than 30 participants from around Lagos, featured training sessions from media practitioners such as Benny Ark, Oscar Oyinsan, Nnamdi Obanya, Mazino Appeal and Ohi Odiai, among others.
The three week training that spanned August 8 to August 26, 2016, saw students undergo an intense two weeks of classroom lectures and one week of studio practicals.
During the studio practicals, the students hosted a live radio show, acquiring hands-on studio experience.
At the end of training session, one exceptional student is rewarded with an offer of employment at City FM and the others are taken on as interns for one month.
According to the CEO of City FM, Doja Allen, this initiative, which will be a bi-annual program, is part of the station’s efforts to develop well-rounded media professionals, and ultimately improve the ecosystem of the industry.
The next training session is scheduled to begin on October 10, 2016.
