Top 10 menswear designers to look out for in 2016

From putting out their lookbooks to the unique and well packaged red carpet showcases, these upcoming designers gave us something to feast our eyes on and look good in this year

Menswear Fashion designers made their mark in 2015, making men all over the country and beyond way more stylish than we’ve ever been. As a result of the emerging industry, we had a lot more menswear designers coming out this year.

From putting out their lookbooks, carefully shot with artistic flare, to the unique and well packaged red carpet showcases, these upcoming designers gave us something to feast our eyes on and look good in this year.

Menswear designers apart from showing off their innovative and creative abilities, the diversity, range, aesthetic and wearability were outstanding as they brought their A-game.

1.) P.O.C Lagos: P.O.C (Papa Omisore Clothing) owned by renowned PR maven, Papa Omisore, debuted its collection at LFDW 2015 and the crowd went crazy. With his latest ‘Zebra’ collection, Papa has managed to create structured looks that are both comfortable, appealing and functional. Also, the gladiator sandals are to die for. We foresee him doing greater things.

2.) JZO: The creative menswear brand is forging the path for modern menswear with their neo-traditional designs. Their latest ‘Aremo’ collection features lapeless blazers with intricate detailing and practical Aso oke fabric for Harmattan season.

3.) Deji Eniola: Deji Eniola is another menswear brand who showcased at LFDW 2015 and left us wanting more. His designs are out of the box with suit designs that are anything but usual. He plays with colors in an effortless and comfortable way.

4.) Onwuchekwa: New menswear brand on the block is currently making waves with his print designs. He gained praise from critics for his Athletic Luxury collection, with included printed tops and pants with diversity in fabric choice and patterns.

5.) Kelechi Odu: The first words you think when you see Kelechi Odu’s latest collection is easy, breezy, colorful fun. Not only does Kelechi Odu step outside the stereotype menswear comfort zone with wrap pants and hooded tops, they do it with fun colors that show boldness.

6.) Visual Gods: There’s something mysterious, dark yet artistic about this brand. The designs are quite fluid with a architectural appeal to it. The designs give off a contradictory vibe of being carefree and vibrant while being rigid and accurate at the same time.

7.) Morafa: This has to be the classic gentleman collection. There’s a certain appeal to the designs that show effortless grace and charm, regardless of the kind of fabric used to make the pieces. The brand also shows variety, as they use leather and various cuts.

8.) FemyToys: Now, this brand is towing the line of P.O.C Lagos and we don’t have an issue with it. After all, the best of the best drew inspiration from somewhere. the great thing about this brand is how they personalize their looks with intricate and detailed embroidery of various kinds.

9.) Timbrel: This brand is one to look out for in the coming year because of its packaging. Packaging and finishing is essential to any brand and Timbrel seems to have a grip on that. They have very clean lines and sharp sartorial looks with modern trends.

10.) Josh Amor: This is probably the most unique of the pack. Not because it has such a distinctive look but because it’s unexpected. Most of the designers who made our list were suit designers or the likes but this brand has a casual and urban feel to it. However, it’s not too adventurous for the traditional stylish Nigerian man.
