Plus-size Fashion Week Africa (PFWA) is a first of its kind fashion runway show that highlights plus size models and apparels. The event will feature a plus size runway fashion show, plus size modelling competition and exhibition booths to create a unique shopping experience for consumers.

The Plus-size Fashion Week Africa was birthed out of the need to stop the stigmatisation and body shaming of the plus-sized woman, we believe that every woman should be comfortable in her skin and body regardless of what the society thinks as long as they are healthy.

PFWAfrica is aimed at maximising the growing focus on the plus-size fashion industry and also the promotion of the African culture. This maiden edition is themed: “Celebrating the Real African Woman”. It is billed to attract over 500 people who will be exposed to your designs and fashion pieces.

ABOUT PFWAfrica

Opening in Lagos for the first time is the only fashion runway show ever dedicated to Plus Size Models and Apparels. In the light of realities, this will be the first TRULY AFRICAN fashion runway show! African culture celebrates the healthy looking plus sized woman. She is the everyday woman in the African Office, Shop, Marketplace and on the streets.

Western Fashion Trends has tended to alienate the plus sized African woman, almost to the point of stigmatising her body size. This fact has tended to question the integrity of conventional African Fashion runways with ‘zero’ sized models strutting the runways being viewed by audiences, 85% of whom are plus sized! This tended to create a divide, between the audience and the fashion show.

To Bridge this gap and put the real needs of the average African woman on the runway, the  Plus-size Fashion Week is finally born, thus bringing an African Fashion Feel to an African Audience.

The Plus-size Fashion Week is poised to celebrate the African Woman’s Body, while not excluding zero sized and other sized models and apparels as well. It also not a female exclusive fashion show, male apparels and models are also to be showcased. The show is being produced by Mahogany Productions & Events and Pr & Marketing by YD Agency.
