You may remember Debbie Collins from last year, she emerged first runner up at MBGN 2015 and became Miss MBGN Universe 2015.
She went to Las Vegas to represent Nigeria at the Miss Universe world competition, which you may remember was quite infamous with the mistaken announcement of the winner.
In Debbie’s interview with Pulse, she details her time at Las Vegas, her controversial dress, the infamous mistake by Steve Harvey and what the future holds for her.
First off, Debbie talks about how overwhelmed she was by the support, which gave her courage. However, she says Nigeria is really calm about support of beauty pageants in comparison to some other countries, and could be more vocal.
Collins also revealed that her roommate and very good friend at the competition was Miss Ghana. However, some of the other ladies were not as friendly, as they had their eyes on the competition.
In speaking of her dress she recollects that it wasn’t her idea but she wanted something colorful and that it took a while to make, as it was beaded from head to toe and she thinks the judges found it interesting and felt the presence of Africa.
Finally, she discussed the Steve Harvey issue and described it as a very dramatic episode with all kinds of emotions running high. She feels bad for Miss Columbia and Philippines but she doesn’t hold it against Steve Harvey though.
