Atelier Versace's Haute Couture Spring 2017 looks all sorts of 'Lagos Glam and bet Nigerian creative will jump on this for inspiration!
Going through Atelier Versace's latest Spring 2017 and it's obvious that these are Lagos Big Girl's looks; glitzy, sparkly, embellished, flirty, sensual and so on. These pieces will fire up any red carpet (what we live for around here).
There's no denying
Nigerians Lagos babes love to dress to the nines (it's the only reason a person will attend a concert in glam red carpet pieces) throw in fringes/tassels, reflexive fabrics, skin baring styles and there you have the ultimate statement!
The Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2017 Collection brings with it super glamorous pieces that scream sex appeal with the luxury brand ditching the runway this time opting for a look lineup (featuring 17 pieces) and they make the perfect inspiration.
It's no news that
some a lot of Nigeria based designers get inspired to create pieces from these brands (and sometimes arguably vice versa and recently from each other) with some getting called out in recent times.
Ulyana Sergeenko and The Muse Factory were tied together recently over a creation that feels too similar, a case of the latter getting inspired by the former's creation, a piece from Lisa Folawiyo's SS17 compared to a (similar) piece off Maki Oh's Fall 2016 collection amongst many others, while this is not entirely a bad thing, there should at least be a level of 'own' creativity behind any work one prides as their own.
Dramatic metallic pleats, Swarovski crystals as adornment, cord laces, high hemlines, full fringes, tassel embellishments and many showstopping styles fill the collection but these aesthetics on the pieces from the collection are sure reasons why the sensational Nigerian brand will take inspiration off the collection:
1. The Lagos glam & glitzy look
The pieces come fierce and ultra glam with some drenched in gold details and embellishment, swaying with each stride and trust an average Nigerian to want to make heads turn her way not to mention the stylish one that loves to go all out.
2. Reflexive embellishment that catches light
The stylish Nigerian/Lagos babe loves to make a grand entrance and shine bright all through the event (blinding everyone her way) and these catchy embellished details are all they need to make the dramatic statement.
3. Skin power
Trust the Lagos girl to love to show (major) skin even in a glam look and these offerings are perfect inspirations to get that going. Think nude underlay, bare décolletage, body grazing, thigh high slits, barely there lengths and more.
I see all the glitz for F 'n' R, the sheer and peek-a-boo sheer and nude of Weizdhurm Franklyn and definitely the Swarovski crystals details, fringe and tassels for Fablane By Derin and more.
So darling creative, let the creation being.
