Advisory board releases nomination criteria, call for nomination

The advisory board of unarguably Nigeria's foremost awards body for the real estate sector, UNITE awards, has taken an unprecedented step by releasing the selection criteria for the various categories of awards.

The advisory board of unarguably Nigeria's foremost awards body for the real estate sector, UNITE awards, has taken an unprecedented step by releasing the selection criteria for the various categories of awards. The move, which is  obtainable internationally, is a departure from what is obtainable in this part  of the world, where awards are covered in a shroud of mystery and is expected to further solidify the confidence that this platform has enjoyed from the entire real estate sector.

More importantly, this gesture is intended to spark up conversation on best practices as nominees and winners will be implored to facilitate sessions that will help players in their sectors, replicate their winning template.

The nominations process has now commenced on the fourth annual installment of the REAL ESTATE UNITE AWARDS ceremonies. At the forthcoming  Summit which is slated to hold on  September 29th – 30th,2015, at the prestigious Eko Convention Centre in Lagos, 12 leaders in the real estate sector will be presented with awards in various  categories- identified for their contributions to the real estate industry.  The awards are presented by 3INVEST LIMITED, publishers of Africa's  largest online information platform for the real estate sector.

Following the nomination process by the general public, the the Real Estate Unite Advisory Board ("the Advisory Board") undertook a keen selection process  before presenting a  final nomination list for the various categories. Nominees are welcome via an online platform and the selection process will be undertaken by 3invest Research Team; and voting process by the  Board. The Advisory Board is an independent body made up of professionals from different sectors,  chaired by Peter Bamkole, other members are Jumoke Akinwunmi, Akin Olawore, Sonnie Ayere, and Kunle Omotola.

To be eligible for an  award :

  • A nominee must be an active real estate player, either registered organisation or, in the case of an individual, an employee of a registered organisation. 
  • Nominee's actions and business practices raise the standards for the African real estate sector and serve as an inspiration to  others.
  • Nominee has acted with the highest ethics  in conducting their real estate business.
  • Nominee's reputation  is impeccable.

To be shortlisted, a nominee will be judged on the following criteria:

  • Contribution to real estate economic growth and development
  • Project, delivery and operational performance
  • Innovation and sustainability
  • Level of investment desirability and accessibility
  • Concept and expertise
  • Designs, standards and quality of delivery

The Awards recognize excellence in the following categories:

Past winners include Governor Babatunde Fashola SAN, UPDC, ACTIS, Palms Shopping Mall, Lakowe Lakes, Stanbic IBTC, Eko Atlantic, Cadwell, Fine and Country, Broll Nigeria. The race is now on for who will occupy the center stage at this year's Unite Awards ceremony.

Finalists/Nominees for the different categories will be announced in September, 2015. Nominations close August 29th 2015 at 12:00 noon GMT +1.
