Members of the executive committee of Ikoyi Club 1938 kicked off the Christmas season and festivities with the switching on of the Christmas lights.
King Sunny Ade, Omawumi, others to perform at Christmas celebration
There will also be a recognition event of the role of veterans of the Ikoyi Club 1938, an Elders’ Day Party on January 5, 2018.
The annual tradition took place on Friday, December 1, 2017 at the club’s lawn in Ikoyi, Lagos.
The ceremony was officiated by the chairman of Ikoyi club, Babatunde Akinleye who was supported by captains of various sections as well as members of sub-committees.
Speaking during the ceremony Mr. Babatunde Akinleye said the switching on ceremony “signals the official start of the Christmas season and signifies the spirit of joy that is at the heart of Ikoyi Club 1938”.
The entertainment sub-committee of Ikoyi Club 1938 has announced a schedule of activities for the Christmas season:December 8- International Nite with King Sunny Ade and OmawumiDecember 17- Children’s PartyJanuary 5- Elders Day Highlife Nite.
Present at the event were Mr Sunday Wusu (Badminton Chairman), Mr Kenneth Ufere (Other Games Chairman), Miss Mary Orubo (Entertainment Committee) and Mr Tunji Tiamiyu (Entertainment Committee) and other members and guests of the club.
The Christmas light switching off will take place on Monday, January 8, 2018 to round up the festivities.
