In a recent interview with the Vanguard newspaper, former Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN), Nike Oshinowo revealed that she suffers from endometriosis, a condition which she said she's lived with since she was 13. According to her, she was hospitalised for 10 days the first time she got her period and the pain was so severe that she thought she would die! While quite a number of women suffer from severe cramps which leaves them hospitalised most times, endometriosis, however is not to be confused with dysmenorrhea (menstrual cramps) as they are two separate conditions. Often times, women suffer from endometriosis but are not even aware of this condition due to gross misinformation so they simply chuck it up as severe menstrual cramps. However, based on Ms Oshinowo's revealing interview, we did a little research and discovered some of the following:

A good number of women are probably achingly familiar with menstrual cramps...you know, the back-breaking pain, light heaviness in the pelvic region and in severe cases, waves of nausea that accompany a woman's menstrual period. Menstrual cramps are every woman's worst nightmare and they are absolutely no respecter of person or time for that matter.
