Walking is probably one of the most commonly recommended exercise to improve health.

To keep the body in top shape, it needs some form of exercise to keep it at peak performance.

From helping to lose weight, lower blood pressure, reduce stress and risk of some diseases, taking regular walks is one of the easiest way to keep the body in great shape and ensure a fit and healthy life.

Doctors recommend walking everyday for at least 30 minutes, best when it comes in the morning to help the body kickstart the day in high gear. These five reasons come top when you walk for at least 30 minutes everyday.

2. Improves mood

Walking also improves mood. Because this mode of exercise boosts 'feel good' chemicals known as endorphins in the brains, the mood after about 30 minutes of walking is great and comes with increased energy.

3. A great way to lose belly fat

Taking regular 30 mins walk daily is a way to loose belly fat. Walking burns calories and because this area is one of the focal point for this exercise, the results are noticeable after a while.

4. Tones the legs

Regular walks help tone the legs and keep them in great shape. Physiotherapist Mr Segun Olufemi agrees that "walking everyday for at least 20 minutes is a great way to keep the legs toned and stronger". "Even people recovering from leg injury can benefit from this, they just have to be supervised" he says.

Regular walks helps the heart. It gets blood pumping and oxygen circulating round the body this reducing the risks of stroke and heart diseases.
