Dr Kunden Deyin, the state Commissioner for Health, made the appeal on Thursday in Jos during an advocacy visit to the Ministry of Environment.
Deyin told his colleague in the environment ministry, Mr Abdullahi Abbas, that there was urgent need for inter-ministerial synergy to effectively combat the disease.
According to him, as long as the environment remained dirty, the war against Lassa fever won't be won, as such the ministry needed to help in keeping the environment clean.
He said that the Plateau Environmental and Sanitation Agency had embarked on a house-to- house inspection, especially in the rural areas, to enlighten residents on proper sanitary conditions.
Abbas also of the ministry’s unflinching support and collaboration in its fight against Lassa fever.
At the National Orientation Agency (NOA), the commissioner for health also solicited similar support.
The state NOA Director, Mr Bulus Dabit, told the commissioner that the agency had already embarked on sensitisation programmes in some local government areas on Lassa fever and its prevention.
Dabit assured the commissioner of the agency’s doggedness in helping to curb the disease from the state.
