Lassa Fever: Agency advises sick people to visit hospitals

Mr Garba Isah Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, Primary Healthcare Agency, Malammadori in Jigawa has advised sick people in the area to visit hospitals to curtail the spread of Lassa Fever.

Isah gave the advice during a sensitisation workshop for health workers in the area on the dangers of the disease and how to prevent its spread.

He said residents should avoid self-medication for early detection and treatment.

He added that the workshop was designed to expose the health workers on symptoms and preventive measures of the disease.

Isah said that health personnel were also expected in turn to sensitise the people by creating awareness on the symptoms, dangers and preventive tips of the disease.

"The exercise is to create awareness on Lassa fever and its preventive measures,’’ he said.

Isah the agency had adopted effective steps to stop the spread of the disease through effective sensitisation of health workers and the public.
