The Commissioner for Health in Kwara, Dr Atolagbe Alege, on Monday confirmed six cases of cholera outbreak in some parts of  llorin metropolis, the state capital.

Alege, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in llorin, said that the outbreak has not claimed any life.

He said that the victims comprise four adult and two children.

The commissioner said that the outbreak was recorded in Ogidi, Oko-Olowo, Pakata, Oloje and Alore areas of the metropolis.

Alege said that four of the victims had been discharged from the hospital, while two others were responding to treatment.

He attributed the outbreak to failure of some residents to properly wash their fruits before eating them to break the Ramadan fast.
