A car snatcher who slaughtered his victim has been arrested in Enugu State.
A dangerous car snatcher in Enugu State, identified as Ekene Ugwu, has been nabbed by the police attached to the state command after he slashed the throat of a car owner he had dispossessed of a Toyota Camry.
The police who identified that victim as Anthony Sunday Nnamani, was reportedly killed by Ifeanyi at Udenu Local Government Area of the state on August 28.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Ebere Amaraizu, confirmed the incident in a statement, saying after operatives of Udenu Police Division got wind of the incident, they mounted serious surveillance and got the suspect arrested.
Amarizu said in a statement:
“The Enugu state command of the Nigeria Police Force through its operatives of the Udenu Division through information and partnership with members of the public, nabbed a suspect identified as one Ekene Ugwu who in a bid to snatch a Toyota Camry earlier hired to convey him from the owner, one Anthony Sunday Nnamani, allegedly used his short cutlass to slash the throat of the owner of the Camry which led to his death.
Members of the public who witnessed the scenario and suspected that it could be an alleged ritualistic act, raised a distress call which prompted the arrival of security operatives to the scene before the suspect could escape. The suspect was promptly arrested and is now helping the operatives in their investigations. The suspect will be charged to court upon the conclusion of our investigation.”
