Punch reports that while three of the hoodlums beat up Ganiu, five others assaulted Ibiyemi, a trader, blindfolded and raped her.

It was learned that Ganiu and his lover were walking to the lady’s house in the community when they were accosted and assaulted by the gang of eight men who are also residents of the area, injuring Ganiu in the process, after which they fled the scene.

The matter was subsequently reported at the Bariga Police Division which led to the arrest of two of the hoodlums who were identified by the victims.

The case, according to the State Police spokesperson, SP Dolapo Badmos, has been transferred to the Gender Unit of the Command headquarters in Ikeja.

Speaking on the assault, Ganiu, a bricklayer, said he could not tell what warranted the attack.

“They just attacked us. They were not with any weapon. Five of them raped my lover. Two persons have been arrested by the police, but I learned that they might be released soon.”
