Woman abandons 7-month-old baby in day-care

A wicked mother has abandoned her little baby in a day-care center.

Baby Mofe Amos

While many women are praying for a fruit of the womb, a woman so blessed decided to abandon her seven-month-old baby at a day-care facility located at Isawo road, Oke-Afa, Agric, Ikorodu, Lagos.

The mother who was identified as Soloja Ayobola, reportedly dumped her baby at the God’s Care Nanny on January 18, telling the operators that wanted to make further enquiries on how the centre operates but that was the last seen of her.

After she was given a form which she filled and promised to bring her passport in her next visit, but never did.

The proprietor of the day-care, Elizabeth Oyeshile, told reporters that Ayobola had indicated in the form that she was a politician and a member of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and that because of the nature of her work, she travelled mostly during weekends for political campaigns and rallies.

Oyeshile said the woman promised to pick the baby, Mofeoluwanifemi Amos, few days after that but disappeared into thin air.

"The arrangement was that she will be keeping the child during the week, while the centre will take care of the child weekends and we agreed on a weekly payment.

She came to the day-care centre about three times before actually putting her baby at the centre for the first time on Thursday, January 22.

The last time Soloja Ayobola came to the day-care was on May 25. I asked her to take her baby since she was finding it difficult paying for her upkeep.

She pleaded that she will be coming regularly and also promised to come with my money on Friday, but she didn’t.

Since she abandoned her child at the facility, I have called her several times but she refused to pick her calls. The baby, who was seven months old when she brought her is now a year and three months old. I did not know what to do.

It was when I lost my son-in-law three weeks ago that family and friends, who saw the baby when they came to pay condolence visit, advised me to take the baby to the police and report the case.”

The mother, according to Oyeshile, has relocated to an unknown location and her whereabouts have been unknown since then.
