One suspect in Lagos Landlords kidnap, arrested
The police have arrested one suspect in the abduction of three Lagos Landlords and their aerobics instructor in Isheri.
According to a police source, the 38-year-old suspect is a native of Arogbo town in Ondo state and was arrested by members of the Inspector General of Police Intelligence Response Team in Ore town, Ondo State.
The source revealed that the suspect was arrested while on a spending spree in Ore. The suspect allegedly confessed to the kidnap and explained that his share of the N12 million ransom, was N1.2 million.
As earlier reported, the victims were on a routine jog early in the morning on September 17 when three armed gunmen came in from the water side and took them away in a boat, the same way they had come. The operation reportedly lasted for one hour.
The abductors later reached out to the families of the victims on Sunday, September 18, demanding N300 million each as the ransom for the release of the victims.
Two days after the kidnap, the four victims regained their freedom following the payment of the ransom.
Eyewitnesses described the men to have been looking unkempt and exhausted as at the time they came out of the waterside and asked security patrol officers to take them to their respective homes.
Channels Television reported that one of the victims said that they had not been the real targets of their abductors and that the culprits who claimed to be Niger Delta freedom fighters disclosed to him that the kidnap was only an attempt on their part to draw the government's attention to their demands.
