12-yr-old girl in court over N.7m fraud

A 12-year-old girl has been arraigned in a court in Abuja for allegedly defrauding her boss of N.7 million.

It was an unbelievable scene at an Abuja Grade 1 Area Court when a 12-year-old girl, was arranged for allegedly defraudingher employer of the sum of N700,000, Daily Trust reports.

According to the police prosecutor, Abba Zurumi, the suspect who was charged under sections 83 and 309 of the penal code, was reported to the Kubwa Police Division by one Helen Pius on May 23, that her maid had repeatedly handed over the proceeds made from her shop to one Sadiq, whose full names and whereabouts were still unknown.

Zurumi added that one Abubakar Bako of Orozo, always sent the said Sadiq to come and collect money which amounted to N700,000.

When the charges were read to the accused person, she pleaded not guilty and was granted bail in the sum of N700,000 by the judge, Mohammed Marafa, with two reasonable sureties who must be resident within the court’s jurisdiction, while adjourning the case to June 20 for hearing.
