A female banker paid hired assassins to kill her estranged husband has been granted N1 million bail by a Lagos court.
Guardian reports that Onyebuchi was dragged to the court after she allegedly sent the duo of Chigozie Nworie and Kingsley Ofelete, to kill her estranged husband on October 9, 2016, at his residence on 18, Fatai Kofo Street, Agungi, Lekki area of the state.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Julius Babatope had earlier told the court that the 32-year-old Onyebuchi had contracted Nworie and Ofelete to assassinate her husband following a disagreement.
“The accused made away with the victim’s Land Rover jeep with Reg. No. LND 275 DZ after hacking the complainant and pouring acid on him. The victim’s HP laptop, iPhone, car documents and other valuables estimated at N9.3 million were also taken away by the accused.
Onyebuchi had informed the two accused on where she had hidden machete, cutlass and acid in her husband’s compound which they were to use in eliminating him,” Inspector Babatope said.
The prosecutor added that Nworie and Ofelete were arrested with the victim’s bloodstained Range Rover on their way to deliver the car to Onyebuchi’s brother in Anambra.
The three suspects were arraigned on a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy, robbery and attempted murder.
Their plea was, however, not taken the president of the court, Magistrate M.O. Olajuwon who granted Onyebuchi bail but ordered that the two alleged assassins be remanded in Ikoyi Prisons, while the case was adjourned until January 23, 2017, pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions, (DPP).
