Alabede, 25, a carpenter, who has been detained at the Ikoyi prisons over a one-count charge or murder, was said to have stabbed Lawal over an argument which ensued between the pair after drinking to stupor.

Magistrate E. O. Ogunkanmi who ordered the arraignment of Alabede, said that the accused should remain behind bars pending advice from the State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

The offence, which was reportedly committed during a carnival at Oshodi area of Lagos on April 26, was a result of a heated argument between the pair.

“Alabede, who was drunk, picked a broken bottle and stabbed Azeez on the neck which led to his death,” the prosecutor, Insp. Feddy Asu, reportedly told the court, adding that it contravened section 221 of the criminal law of Lagos State, 2011.
