Megalectrics expands radio division to Port-Harcourt

The BEAT FM continues its expansion as it plans on opening a new radio station in the South-South region of Nigeria.

The BEAT FM continues to expand. Port-Harcourt is the third Nigeria city it has moved to.

Plans have already reached advanced stages to open a The BEAT FM station in Port-Harcourt City, Rivers state.

The BEAT FM on-air-personality Gbemi Olateru Olagbegi who doubles as the program director for sister station Naija FM confirmed the creation of the new station on her timeline yesterday, Thursday, February 17, 2017.

The BEAT FM Port-Harcourt is already at the stage of hiring on-air personalities for the new station.

"I've been in PH since yesterday interviewing candidates for our new stations . A few pointers ...."tweeted Gbemi.

The BEAT FM Port-Harcourt would be the fourth BEAT FM station. Megalectrics Limited have established The BEAT 99.9 FM Lagos, THE BEAT 97.9 FM Ibadan and The BEAT 103.6FM London.

Megalectrics acquired in North London and turned it into The BEAT London. The Chris Ubosi led company also has two other radio stations, Naija FM and Classic FM.

The BEAT FM Lagos started operations on September 9, 2009. The urban radio station quickly established itself in Nigeria's entertainment scene and toppled the then top radio station in Lagos, Cool FM.

In a power move Chris Ubosi who was then General Manager of Cool FM left to establish The BEAT FM. Gbemi Olateru Olagbegi did not renew her contract with Cool FM and moved to join the new station. Veteran broadcaster Olisa Adibua also jumped shipped and joined The BEAT.

Female on-air-personalities Toolz Oniru, Oreka Godis, and Misi Molu also joined THE BEAT in 2009 and helped make it a very popular radio station.
