A 54-year-old man in the US city of Phoenix, gained entry to a woman's home and raped her in front of her frightened boyfriend.
According to court documents, the 27-year-old woman on Tuesday, November 4 at about 4.am woke up to find a naked Tilfert D. Vaughn holding a large serrated break knife.
Vaughn who had trailed her to her home from a club earlier in the night, made her to lie down in the bed, and raped her while holding the knife to her throat.
The girl’s boyfriend, who was sleeping by her side, woke up to see Vaughn raping his girlfriend and while he tried to stop the attack, he was badly injured as he struggled with Vaugn.
The court learnt that knife wounds on the rape victim’s girlfriend were deep enough to require surgery to repair the nerve damage he suffered.
After raping her, Vaughn was reported to have told the victim, "Now you have a baby. Bless it and take care of it," before putting on his clothes and leaving home.
Vaughn was also believed to have robbed his victim of sunglasses, toiletries, beer and food, and placed them in an empty apartment nearby before coming back to rape her.
Vaughn was identified after investigators compiled information from the unnamed victim's forensic exam and surveillance videos from the apartment and a nearby bar.
Vaughn has however denied raping the girl or having contact with the victims, but admitted to being in the area.
Police have requested a court order for Vaughn's DNA so it will be matched with physical evidence taken from the victim's forensic exam.
Vaughn has been refused bail and is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing next week.
