The downturn in the business fortunes of a young man in Abakaliki metropolis, Ebonyi State, has ended on a sad note as he reportedly decided to take his own life.
Petroleum dealer commits suicide in Ebonyi
A young business man has killed himself over his loss of fortunes.
According to reports, the young man identified simply as Chima, ran a once-successful petroleum business called Chima Petroleum Resources which was handed over to him at the death of his father some years ago and after running the business for years, he fell on hard times and ran into serious debts.
When he could no longer take the misfortunes, he allegedly committed suicide in his office at Presco campus junction of the Ebonyi State University (EBSU).
Information pieced together has it that the once thriving business suffered setback which made the deceased to appeal to his mother to support him in taking a loan to revive the firm and save it from imminent collapse but his mother declined assisting him, insisting that he had mismanaged the business. The action of his mother, coupled with frustration, was said to have triggered his suicide action
The state Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Chris Anyanwu confirmed the incident, promising that the police would lunch a full scale investigation into the incident.
