Man dies after consuming 20 sachets of gin in a N500 bet

A man identified as Chucks has sent himself to the great beyond after he consumed 20 sachets of gin, after someone placed a bet of N500 on his ability to drink that much.

Chucks who was said to be an Imo State indigene but resident in Aba, Abia State where he worked as a barber, was said to be married with a child and lived happily with his family but his love for illicit hot drinks was his undoing.

According to an eyewitness, the deceased had gone to a local drinking joint in his area to relax with his friends and while they were chatting, he boasted over his drinking ability, stating that he could easily consume 20 sachets and walk away still sober.

The boast allegedly brought about an argument with many daring him and taking him on his bet with the sum of N500 thrown in as a challenge.

Chucks then began his journey to death when he started on the drinks and had successfully consumed all 20 sachets and went away with the money.

But when he got to his house, the worse took a turn for the worst when he complained to his wife that he was felling pains in his stomach and chest. He later confessed to his wife the cause of the discomfort and she raised an alarm but before help could come his way, he had given up the ghost.
