A Karmo Grade 1 Area Court in FCT on Friday sentenced a 28-year-old security guard, John Odeh, to two months imprisonment for stealing planks from a construction site.

The Presiding Officer, Mr Abubakar Sadiq, however, gave Odeh an option to pay N10,000 fine.

Sadiq warned him to desist from crime.

Odeh, an employee of Halogen Security Company, Abuja, had pleaded guilty to a count charge of stealing, and prayed for leniency.

The prosecutor, Mr Dalhatu Zannah, told the court that a security guard, Mr Ocholi Abraham, attached to Plot 179 Karu Site, Abuja, apprehended Odeh and took him to the Utako Police Station on April 1.

Zannah said that Abraham arrested Odeh at 4:40p.m. on April 1 while the latter was stealing some planks from the site in contravention of Section 287 of the Penal Code.
