A 39-year-old man, Sule Ibrahim, who was nabbed for unlawfully dealing in marijuana, popularly called 'Igbo' in local parlance, has been sentenced to life imprisonment by a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos on Tuesday, October 20.

A man who was caught with marijuana has been sentenced to life imprisonment.
The charge filed before the court by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), stated that Ibrahim was arrested on November 9, 2012, at Mapo Alayo Village, Okun Ajah area of the state, where 11.8 kilogrammes of cannabis sativa, (marijuana), a narcotic drug similar to cocaine, heroin and LSD, were found with him, and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 11(c) of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Act Cap N30 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
Ibrahim was first charged in March, 2013 and pleaded not guilty, while in April, 2014, he changed his plea to guilty.
In her judgement, the presiding Judge, Ofili Ajumogobia, sentenced the convict to life imprisonment.
