Saminu Turaki EFCC declares former Jigawa State governor wanted over N36B fraud

Former governor of Jigawa State, Saminu Turaki is on the run after the EFCC declared him wanted for serial fraud.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has declared the former governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Ibrahim Saminu Turaki, wanted over fraud and embezzlement of public funds running over N36 billion.

Turaki who was governor of the northern state from 1999 to 2007, according to the anti-graft agency, is wanted in connection with a case of criminal conspiracy, stealing, money laundering and misappropriation of public funds.

The agency says in its press release that the former governor has continuously evaded appearance in court and at the last sitting on November 13, 2014, he was absent, despite a subsisting warrant for his arrest.

Therefore, the body asks anyone with useful information about his whereabouts to contact any of its offices in Enugu, Kano, Lagos, Gombe, Port Harcourt and Abuja offices or through the following numbers: 09-4604620, 070-26350721 and 070-26350722.
