Soldier arrested for armed robbery

A serving soldier has been arrested for robbery in Abia State.

A serving Nigerian soldier, Itugbu Augustine Omorodion, has been arrested for allegedly robbing a man in Aba, the Abia State capital, reports Vanguard.

Omorodion who is attached to the 14 Brigade, Ohafia, in the state, according to reports, was alleged to have robbed the man with a dagger of N250,000 which he was going to deposit for his boss in one of the commercial banks along Faulks Road area of the city.

It was gathered that  the victim summoned courage to raise an alarm which attracted passers-by and some mobile police officers on patrol in the area rushed to the scene and arrested the soldier.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Onyeke Udeviotu Ezekiel, confirmed the incident saying the money had been recovered from the soldier while the has been transferred to the Aba Police Area Command.
