FRSC confirms 13 persons dead in Katsina
A faulty tyre of a Volkswagen vehicle caused it to run off the road and ram a parked truck in the process.
Casualties were confirmed by the FRSC Sector Commander, Alhaji Abdu Bagadawa, who made the disclosure in a chat with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
The accident happened on Tuesday, December 13, 2016, in Unguwar-Iliya village of Katsina.
According to reports, the vehicle involved are a Volkswagen, with registration number KAF 608 XA carrying 18 passengers and a Dangote trailer with registration number, TRN 130 XA.
The accident reportedly occurred due to a busted tyre belonging to the Volkswagen which caused it to run off the road and hit the parked trailer.
Five victims sustained serious injuries in addition to the thirteen confirmed dead.
Bagadawa urged motorists to install speed limit devices in their vehicles to ensure safety of occupants.
