"My name is Deborah, a 38-year-old woman who has been married for 10 years with two daughters. In my years of marriage, I have had to bury three sons who either died at infancy or shortly before their first birthdays.
My husband, Ebuka, does not seem to bother so much with the fact that we have been losing our sons as he keeps telling me that they will stay when God says they will but as a mother, I know the pains I have been going through, especially with many of his family members accusing me of being a witch.
But three months ago, a series of happenings have been unfolding that lends credence to the fact that the death of my sons is not ordinary. It all started when my friend, Favour, invited me to a three-day programme in her church.
Immediately I stepped into the church, the man of God who was preaching stopped his preaching and focused his eyes on me. The look on his face was that of pity.
I was at a loss and through out the day's crusade, the man kept stealing furtive glances at me, making me very uncomfortable.
At the end of the programme, the pastor told me to wait behind, because he had a message for me. When I went into his office, he told me that the moment I walked in, the Holy Spirit told him I was a very troubled woman and that I have been living with serious pain in my heart.
The man who had never met me all my life, gave me my life history and all the troubles I have gone through. He then told me that the deaths of my three sons were not ordinary as my husband was in a very powerful cult that forbade members from having male children.
He also told me that the source of Ebuka's great wealth was the vow he made to give his male children to the cult. I did not want to believe him but he told me that anytime our male child died, Ebuka would mysteriously strike a business deal that would bring him millions of Naira.
I knew that what he said was quite true but I still had my doubts and he told me that I would get first sign the moment I get home and true to his words, the moment I walked into the house, Ebuka who was in the sitting room, raged at me, telling me that I was trying to bring down his business by going to fake prophets to tell lies against him.
He vowed to destroy me if I do not stop attending the church. I did not tell him I was going to a church programme, so I was shocked on how he got to know. After that day, I began to monitor him and what I found out tallied with the pastor's words that Ebuka is in a cult.
I began noticing that he had a pattern of dressing (mostly in white and red), something I did not give a thought to. When his friends came calling, they always retired to a room he forbade me from entering and by the time they came out, they would not say a word when leaving.
The final straw was when stole the key to the mystery room and when Ebuka travelled out of the country, I used the key I had made and opened the room only to be confronted by a shrine and other paraphernalia of rituals. There were red, white and black candles, sprinkles of blood and a white basin filled with water.
I practically ran out of the house with my daughters but that night, Ebuka appeared in my dreams and told me my days are numbered as I have seen his secret life. It was more of a vision than a dream and he vowed to kill me before I would expose him.
When he came back, Ebuka came to my family house and wanted us to go back home but I doubt if I can ever go back as my life and that of my children are in danger. I have not been able to tell my family of the discovery, only telling them that nothing on earth would make me go back to Ebuka.
My family thinks we had a quarrel and have been trying to bring us back. The only succour I have is the man of God who has been conducting a deliverance programme for me and has continued to assure me that nothing will happen to me.
But I am afraid for my life.
