PNP readers say the will fight back if a boss slaps them in the office.

What do you make of work place abuse?

Workplace abuse in Nigeria is becoming quite alarming, ranging from sexual abuse, harassment and physical abuse. Many workers suffer in silence going by the fear of the unknown if they ever get sacked.

A Pulse reader, Adeola, sent in a letter narrating how her female boss slapped her in the office and how she is confused at what to do, either to leave the job or continue.

Read part of her letter here:

"My name is Adeola and I am 26 years old. I work with an advertising firm in Lagos. The salary is not out of this world but it is comfortable.

The only problem I have here is that my boss, a single lady in her 40s, is so eccentric and quite off the wall, to say the least.

She takes her frustration on the staff and verbally abuses us almost daily but just last week, she had misplaced a file belonging to a very important client and when the management asked her to produce the file and she could not find it she screamed down at the whole office.

I knew she was the last person to handle the file because I personally handed it over to her the day before, so I told her so but she flew into a temper and actually slapped me twice.

I could have retaliated but I thought of the unemployment situation in the country and thought otherwise.

But some friends say I should sue the company but I know it will be my word against theirs as they have the means to turn the case against me because the woman is also a director in the company."
