Meet the new leadership at Nigeria's media company

Pulse Nigeria has revealed its new succession plans for the company following the announcement of current CEO Rich Tanksley, transitioning out of the role in October.

Tanksley who will no longer be in charge of the online media firm will be taking on a new role as Pulse Brand Ambassador.

Philippe Greinacher, current Co-Product Manager at Pulse Ghana would add on to his role that of Regional Managing Director Sales & Partnerships for Pulse. Osagie Alonge, current Editor-in-chief of Pulse Nigeria has been named as Managing Director of Content, Aniekan Etuhube as Managing Director of Pulse TV, and Tunde Kara as Director of Sales and Business Development, Pulse Nigeria.

Tanksley joined Pulse in early 2015 running the day-to-day operations of the company and developing revenue generating strategies. Through his leadership and creative insights he has helped grow it to one of the largest digital media companies in Nigeria. As he transitions out over the next few months, he will continue to serve Pulse with his insights as a consultant and champion for the brand.

Over the past two years, Tanksley built and collaborated with a team of young disruptors including Alonge, Etuhube and Kara with the aim of taking news and entertainment reporting in the digital space to a whole new level.

Alonge, the new Managing Director and Editor-In-Chief is known for his strong editorial judgement. Alonge joined the company in August 2014 and revamped the editorial desk with skilled journalists who ensure the website is updated 24 hours, seven days of the week.

Kara, the Director of Sales has increased revenue of the company in the last year with the introduction of various sales products for big corporations and small and medium-sized enterprises.

Etuhube, Managing Director of Pulse TV is credited with some of the amazing visual content such as “Pulse Strivia” and “Pulse Voxpop”.

About the move, Tanksley said, “I feel really lucky to have had the opportunity to help build something as amazing as Pulse. I feel that the team that is in place has the skill to continue to grow Pulse to the #1 media platform in Nigeria.”

Tanksley will be moving on to head up GE Lagos Garage, a fabrication laboratory and incubator. Funded by GE, it plans to build manufacturing capacity on the continent by training Nigerians to use 3D printers and start businesses to sell the products they produce.
