1) "Other Room"

On Friday, October 14, 2016, President Buhari shook the nation when he made his infamous 'other room' statement in Berlin, Germany.

"I don't know which party my wife belongs to, but she belongs to my kitchen and my living room and the other room," said President Buhari in front of journalists in Germany.

It didn't take long for Nigerians to hear about it. Feminist groups and gender equality organisations blasted the President for his statement. Since President Buhari made this infamous quote, the 'other room' has taken on a whole new meaning.

2) Solomon Dalung on the World Cup

The Minister for Sports Solomon Dalung is a man of many controversial words. The red beret-wearing minister is always capable of annoying Nigerians with his statement.

When we thought that the man couldn't put his foot in his mouth again, he said that the Super Eagles shouldn't bother playing the qualifiers for the 2018 World Cup in Russia because they are not going to win it.

"The cup that we can win is the African Cup of Nations.

“There is nothing again that will take us to another man’s balcony in the name of the World Cup. We already have the Commonwealth Games and the Olympics. For these, we can attend such meets.

“But I am opposed to the World Cup. We don’t agree to it. Conspiracy in the World Cup is too much" said the Sports Minister. Unbelievable. How he is still has a job is unthinkable.

3) Tiwa Savage and "edible catering"

The Mavin first lady who is now signed to Roc Nation gave us the biggest entertainment story of the year when she disclosed how her marriage fell apart. In all of her shocking revelations, Tee Billz's infidelity stuck the most and the words 'edible catering' gave birth to discussions about cheating in marriages and countless of memes.

"While we were sleeping at two AM a number called him saved as Edible Catering….I checked his phone, and the number was asking him if she can come to his hotel. She responded that He (TJ) knocked her out last night, that he was a great night" revealed Tiwa Savage. Since she spoke these words, edible catering is now a synonym for cheating.

4) Seyi Shay

The beautiful singer is a woman of many blunders. In 2016 she made a lot from her mispronunciation of two on Pulse TV (shout out to Chuey), to her statement about Wizkid writing 'One Dance' for Drake.

However, her biggest blunder which was also a very top quote came in an interview with Hip TV. During 'Trending' on Hip TV, Seyi Shay was asked what does E.P mean. Surely a singer with international exposure would know the meaning. Seyi Shay surprisingly didn't know the right meaning and said: "Obviously E.P can stand for electric package" with confidence. Social media went hard on Seyi Shay for weeks.

5) Tekno

The Triple MG singer had a fantastic year due to his chart-topping and gravity defying single called 'Pana'.  It was one of those songs you couldn't run away from in 2016.

While Tekno was a success in the music circuit, on social media the singer was nothing short of laughable moments and bizarre statements. His most memorable Instagram video had him saying that all women should cheat on Thursdays.

"Guys, if you have a girlfriend... sometimes, you should allow your girlfriend cheat on you. Just small. Because we all cheat as guys. There is no way you can be with one girl. It's not possible" said the fleet-footed singer. Women loved Tekno the more after he said this.

6) Kiss Daniel

How old is Kiss Daniel? This was one of the biggest mysteries of 2016. After much controversy over his age, Kiss Daniel sat down with Ebuka on Rubbin Minds to thrash the issue out.

When asked how old he is, the star singer ducked the question and said his team would release a press statement soon concerning the matter.

"About the age stuff, my team we are putting out a press release on that. For now, I would love not to say anything. Because it's more than how old I am now" said Kiss Daniel. The singer was thoroughly mocked for his response. We are still waiting on the damn press release.

7) Victor Ikepba

The former Super Eagles striker who was given the title 'Prince of Monaco' keeps Nigerians laughing with his smattering English and his horrible way with words.

It was a laughing matter on October 9, 2016, when during the match between Nigeria and Zambia he said: "Football is a men's sport, not a women's sport." Ikepba had to apologise for his words later on.
