Uyo airport evacuated after small fire in the departures area.
A small fire broke out in the departures ares of the Uyo airport yesterday and the premises had to be evacuated immediately.
A fire broke out at 3:15pm at the Uyo airport yesterday. It seemed like an AC caught on fire.
However the terminal was evacuated in an orderly manner and the fire was contained by security personnel using a fire extinguisher. Flames were never visible but there was a lot of smoke.
My flight was cancelled, not because of the fire, but due to lack of fuel. I was booked on a Dana flight to Lagos at 3pm. The flight was cancelled along with the Dana Abuja flight due to lack of aviation fuel.
At the time of writing this, we are still trying to get on a flight again today.
We received a text message from Dana it reads:
Dear GuestDana Air regrets the cancellation of your flight 9J 334/16 May, QUO-LOS due scarcity of aviation fuel. For further assistance please contact our call centre : 012809992/012809888/07003593262.We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience.Regards,Customer Service Team.
From all indications, air travel in Nigeria still has a very long way to go. We can only hope the appropriate agencies and airline overcome these challenges to become better and provide better services.
