A teenager from Nevada, USA, just wanted chicken nuggets, now he's the most retweeted person ever.

Carter Wilkerson has now dethroned talkshow icon, Ellen Degeneres, to claim the world record of the most retweeted tweet of all time. Remember this Ellen selfie?

It was the most retweeted tweet of all time with 3.4 million retweets, but Wilkerson just came and brushed her aside. There wasn't much sign of struggle from the Ellen side of things.

But how did it even happen?

Wilkerson likes Chicken nuggets very much.

So he asked the Wendy’s Twitter account how many retweets he would need for a free year’s supply of chicken nuggets.

"18 million", the company responded.

Since then, everyone has jumped in line to make sure Wilkerson gets his nuggets. I retweeted. My friends retweeted. Brands like Apple Music, Google, Microsoft supported. Even Ellen Degeneres herself supported.

And of course, the guys at Twitter supported. And when Twitter supports you, you get a blue tick.

Almost two weeks after his initial tweet, Ellen invited him over to come on her show.

Since the tweet went viral, Wilkerson's plans changed a little. He said that once the record is broken, Wendy’s will donate $100,000 to The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption.

Wendy’s also confirmed that Wilkerson will get his nuggets. For the amount of brand awareness the company got through this, they better give him more than a year's supply.
