The internet is dragging a Kenyan senatorial aspirant, for commissioning a semi-permanent wooden bridge.

Guys, this is not even a joke.

A billionaire politician in Kenya, Mr Ephraim Maina arrived in chopper in Kieni East, to commission the temporary bridge built by the local community together.

The bridge is worth Sh7,800. That's less than N30,000.

The billionaire was received by dancing and singing residents as their hero arrived to commission the wooden bridge less than 50 metres long.

While addressing the residents, Maina proudly said he lobbied for the bridge connecting the Gachini and Kinyua wa Mweru villages.

He also divulged that some materials had been donated by the local Forest Service officers.

And to the important moment of every politician's existence; the rope cutting!

Since the bridge was wooden and didn't have rails on either side like you'd expect from a modern bridge, two people, a man and a woman, held a string at two ends. Then of course, Mr Maina posed for a photograph as the string was cut. A man even stood beside him with a vuvuzela.

Mr Maina is one of the several billionaires hustling for the Nyeri governorship seat in August, and his trip to Kabaru ward was part of his methods to get the voters to remember him at the polls.
