This award-winning singer is going viral for the weird reasons [video]
A video showing Mary J. Blige singing to Hillary Clinton in what should be an oral interview, has now gone viral.
Mary J. Blige is a highly talented, multiple award-winning singer who has been winning Grammies before Obasanjo even knew he was going to be a democratic President.
While she has mostly been in the news lately because she ended her 12-year marriage to Kendu Isaacs, she has a video going viral again for another reason.
She dropped a teaser for an interview with America's Presidential Candidate, Hillary Clinton.
But that's not what's really making people talk, it's because in the 1-minute teaser, she sang for 45 seconds. She sang about police violence against black people, and the lyrics read:
If an officer stops you, promise me you'll always be politeAnd that you'll never ever run awayPromise Mama you'll keep your hands in sightIs it a gun (is it a gun), is it a knife (is it a knife)Is it a wallet (is it a wallet), this is your life (this is your life)It ain't no secret (it ain't no secret)It ain't no secret (it ain't no secret)No secret my friendYou can get killed just for living in your American skin
The song she sang is actually from Bruce Spingstein's American Skin (41 shots), a song which was inspired by Amadou Diallo, a Guinean immigrant who was shot at 41 times by policemen. He got hit 19 times. Amadou is the same guy from Wyclef Jean's Diallo Diallo song.
But the internet found it weird that Mary was singing when she should have be scrutinising. Tweets like these were common:
From the cringeworthy,
To the awkward,
But what was most awkward was Hillary's reaction to Mary singing.
We kind of agree with this tweet, because when Mary J. Blige asked, "I just wanna know, where do we go from here?" Hillary's face was just like,
In all of this, at least now we know Mary J. Blige has a new show called 'The 411' that will debut on the 30th of September, and will only be available for viewing on Apple Music.
