A wealthy Chinese miner has been reported to have drowned himself, commiting suicide, after his gypsum mine collapsed, killing one.

AP reports that, State media had revealed that, president of Yurong Commerce and Trade Ltd. Co., Ma Congbo, was assisting with rescue efforts on Sunday morning when reportedly jumped into a well in the mine and drowned.
The owner of the Chinese gypsum mine drowned on Sunday after he committed suicide by jumping into a well as rescue workers made efforts to save 17 workers still trapped in the mine, two days after the mine collapsed and killed one person.
AP reports that, State media had revealed that, president of Yurong Commerce and Trade Ltd. Co., Ma Congbo, was assisting with rescue efforts on Sunday morning when reportedly jumped into a well in the mine and drowned.
Since the gypsum mine had collapsed on Friday, rescuers have pulled 11 workers to safety, as well as recovering a body.
Sadly, 17 miners are yet to be found since the search began.
The Chinese authorities are said to have dealt severely with, including jail sentences, to company management and local work safety officials following major work safety disasters.
