DPO who brutalised pregnant woman removed

The Divisional Police Officer who brutalised a pregnant woman and made her lose her baby has been removed.

The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Abdulmajid Ali, has moved swiftly to remove the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Kemta Idi-Aba Division, CSP Samuel, for allegedly brutalising a 37-year-old pregnant woman, Risikat Bamidele, leading to her losing her baby, reports Vanguard.

The sad case of police brutality came to the fore last weekend when the woman reported how Samuel had tortured her and had her locked up when she went to see her husband who was detained at the station and made the mistake of making a phone call to her brother-in-law to intimate him of the case.

Reacting to the incident, the CP said when he heard of it, he immediately ordered a discreet investigations into it and at the end, Samuel was indicted and he ordered his immediate removal.

“The DPO involved has been removed and moved to the state headquarters. I have mandated a team headed by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Special Investigation and Intelligence Department would handle the matter.

I promise to make our findings public at the conclusion of the case,” Ali reiterated in a statement he sent out to newsmen on the incident.

The incident came barely few weeks after the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, warned officers of the state police command inhuman and unprovoked assaults on innocent civilians.
