A serial rapist who rapes girls at random in Ikorodu area of Lagos is on the loose and there is a manhunt for him.
The Omojoda community in Adamo, Ikorodu area of Lagos State, is in a state of panic after a suspected serial rapist is reported to be on the loose and is currently on the run after he allegedly raped three young girls.
The suspect who has been identified as Segun also known as Mago, is said to be giving the residents of the community sleepless nights as no one knows when he would resurface and strike again.
It was gathered that the police at the Sagamu Road Division and the Area N Command, Ijede, have been told about the rampaging serial rapist and they are on the hunt for him but that has not given the residents peace of mind as mothers have warned their daughters to be very careful and mind where they go.
The suspect, it was learnt, is reported to be in the habit using a white handkerchief to clean himself after raping the girl, suggesting some ritual inclination to his acts.
The Baale of the town, Alhaji Adebola Kazeem, alleged that Segun also belonged to a cult, and had brought his gang members to rob the residents on several occasions.
"It is not only in Omojoda that the man raped young girls. We believe he is also a cultist because he has led a gang to rob us several times. Reports got to us that he also raped some girls in the neighbouring Imure and Isiwu areas.
If the police do not arrest him, there is fear that he might rape more young girls. Another thing he does is to clean the mess with a handkerchief. It was since the last rape incident on Friday, April 17, that he fled the area.
The community is looking for him to hand him over to the police. What he now does is to send his gang to rob residents. Last week, a man’s motorcycle was snatched in the early morning, and another woman returning from her shop was robbed."
One of the victims, a teenager narrated how the wanted rapist abducted her one night and threatened to kill her if she raised the alarm.
"He came on a motorcycle and met me at a junction. He said I should climb the motorcycle and that if I shouted, he would kill me. So, we went away to a bush in the Aleke area where he did it."
